The band had already arrived in the city, but their production equipment had not. Promoters cited an "east coast freight delay" affecting critical show gear, according to a Facebook statement. Promoters said they contacted all ticket holders by SMS and email to explain the situation, including an offer of "full refunds if required." They added that the cancellation came only after exhausting every possible workaround to make the show happen.
Murdoch wrote on X that the cancellation was "a situation beyond our control," confirming the following night's show would proceed as planned. He posted a Google Maps screenshot pinning the meetup spot, inviting fans to gather at Langley Park to chat and hear a few songs, adding fans could bring things for him to sign too — "I was in that park myself last night, it's lovely under the stars."
Tour Context
The tour marks the 30th anniversary of the band's 1996 album If You're Feeling Sinister. The rescheduled second Perth show goes ahead as planned at the Astor Theatre on September 18, after which the tour continues to Asia, then Europe and the UK.
