Woman Charged After Stealing Ambulance, Crashing It Outside Avenged Sevenfold Show

A 24-year-old Arizona woman, Grace Vicente, is facing charges after allegedly stealing an ambulance parked outside a concert venue and crashing it into another vehicle. The incident happened late Thursday, August 27, around 11pm at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix, where Avenged Sevenfold and Good Charlotte were co-headlining a tour stop that night. Vicente now faces DUI and vehicle theft charges.

What happened

According to NME, the ambulance was stationed outside the venue on standby for the show, and paramedics had left the keys inside when they stepped out. Vicente got into the vehicle and drove a short distance before hitting another car.

Local police detained her at the scene after the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was taken to hospital and is not in life-threatening condition. Vicente's lawyer told local outlet AZFamily that she had traveled to Arizona specifically to see the show, and said the incident was "completely out of character" for her.

The tour and new music

The Phoenix date was one stop on Avenged Sevenfold and Good Charlotte's co-headline tour, which launched July 25 in Missouri and wrapped Sunday, August 30, in Los Angeles.

Avenged Sevenfold recently surprise-released a new, electronically textured EP, Statica, their first new material since 2023's Life Is But a Dream…. After this run with Good Charlotte, the band heads out again later this month with dates in Brazil, Malaysia and Japan, followed later this year by shows in Australia, Singapore and Thailand.

Good Charlotte's leg of the tour follows their eighth studio album, Motel Du Cap, released last year. Separately, Joel Madden and Benji Madden made a surprise appearance alongside Hilary Duff at Madison Square Garden — just hours after their company carried out large-scale layoffs at U.S. music outlets including Pitchfork and Brooklyn Vegan.
