"Not a tribute"
The festival's announcement is explicit that this is not a memorial concert: organizers describe the show as being carried forward by two of Ryūichi Sakamoto's closest long-term collaborators, rather than a tribute act. The statement closes with the line "Sakamoto trwa" — "Sakamoto continues."
Alva Noto and Sakamoto built a body of joint albums and film-score work together from the 2000s onward. Fennesz also released collaborative material with Sakamoto, and like Alva Noto has spent his career working at the intersection of electronic sound processing and guitar.
Where this fits on the tour
According to the festival's own account, CONTINUUM has previously been staged in Rome, Barcelona, Prague and Vicenza, with Katowice named as the next stop. NOSPR is a symphonic concert hall, and organizers are positioning the room's acoustics as part of the listening experience for this piece.
