Rock in Taichung
A free, city-run rock festival in a central Taichung park, steps from the MRT — zero-cost, easy-access live music for any visitor passing through central Taiwan.
About
Rock in Taichung is a free, city-government-run rock festival held in Wenxin Forest Park, wrapped around the Yuanman (Perfect) Outdoor Theatre in central Taichung. The 2026 edition runs 31 October – 1 November. Because it's council-funded and open to all, it draws big local crowds for two days of homegrown rock and indie acts, with food stalls and a relaxed park atmosphere.
Lineup
The 2026 lineup hasn't been announced yet — the organisers list it as "coming soon." Follow the Rock in Taichung Facebook / Threads pages for the bill.
How foreigners buy tickets
Entry is free — no ticket needed, just arrive. There is no gate charge and no registration; simply turn up at Wenxin Forest Park. Get there early on headliner evenings, as the lawn in front of the theatre fills up.
Getting there & staying
Route: the venue is exceptionally easy to reach — take the Taichung MRT Green Line to Wenxin Forest Park Station (文心森林公園站), a 5-minute walk away. Arriving from elsewhere in Taiwan, ride the THSR to Taichung (Wuri) and transfer to the MRT Green Line. Nearest airport is Taichung (RMQ) for regional flights; most international visitors fly into Taipei Taoyuan (TPE) and take the THSR down (~1 hr).
Staying: plenty of hotels around Taichung's Nantun / West District within a few MRT stops.
