About
Megaport Festival (大港開唱) is the flagship of Taiwan's indie and rock scene, held each late March on the harbourside at Kaohsiung's Pier-2 Art Center. Across two days and eleven-plus stages it packs in more than a hundred acts — the single best showcase of Mandarin-language and Taiwanese live music, with a growing pan-Asian audience. It is an urban, walkable festival in a converted warehouse art district, so there's no camping and city logistics are easy.

How foreigners buy tickets
- Buy on tixCraft (拓元). Megaport sells through tixCraft, which has an English site — the most foreigner-accessible ticketing platform in Taiwan. Register with an email or social login; you do not need a Taiwan ID or ARC to open an account.
- It's a first-come sale, not a lottery. Tickets go on sale at a set time and popular days can sell out fast — be logged in and ready when the sale opens (usually a few months ahead).
- Pay with a foreign card. International Visa/Mastercard are usually accepted on tixCraft; your bank may send a 3D-Secure one-time code, so have your phone handy. Do NOT pick the ATM-transfer or ibon convenience-store payment options — those can only be completed inside Taiwan.
- Take the e-ticket / QR. Choose e-ticket delivery so you can enter with a QR code; ibon (7-Eleven) collection means physically visiting a store in Taiwan.
- Resale is limited. Official resale is minimal and some Taiwan shows use real-name ticketing (實名制) where a passport/ID is checked at the gate — Megaport is generally open, but avoid sketchy third-party resale.
Getting there & staying
Route: Fly into Kaohsiung International (KHH), ~15 min by MRT Red Line to the city; or take the THSR high-speed rail from Taipei to Zuoying (~90 min) then MRT. Pier-2 is right by MRT Orange Line Yanchengpu Station and the Light Rail Hamasen stop.
Last train: Kaohsiung MRT runs until ~midnight; after that, taxis and Uber are cheap and plentiful — no last-train drama like rural festivals.
Staying: Book a normal city hotel around Yanchengpu / the Salt District or near Kaohsiung/Zuoying stations and commute a few MRT stops. A festival weekend lifts citywide prices, so book ahead.
Bring: Late-March Kaohsiung is warm and mostly dry — light clothing, sun protection, and some cash as a backup (Taiwan vendors are cash-friendly).

Do I need a local phone number or ID?
